What is vertigo and imbalance?
Treatment of Vertigo and Balance Impairments is called Vestibular Rehab. Vestibular rehab is an approach used to aid in the recovery from vertigo, disequilibrium, dizziness, and imbalance resulting from impaired function of the inner ear system (called the vestibular system). Depending on the cause of the problem, treatment can include repositioning maneuvers applied by our Physical Therapist, and/or specific exercise.
The treatment is designed to
- Decrease dizziness.
- Improve visual and eye control.
- Improve balance, walking, and ability to do daily tasks.
- Improve endurance, strength, and ability to perform everyday activity.
- Improve nervous system function for deficits that may or may not be permanent, allowing individuals to improve their function.
